Did you know that 80% of your site’s visitors will only see 20% of your website? This means you should stop wasting your time with the pages that they will never look at and identify the ones they are, so that you can make these as effective as possible.
The first step is to check your Google Analytics (or add it to your site, if you hadn’t already!) and identify your most popular pages. You can easily find this information by going to ‘Content’ -> ‘Overview’. This will display all of the information about your site’s pages with the top 10 most popular pages and the number of page views these get. You can also delve even deeper by clicking on each page to find out more information about this traffic.
These pages should then be thoroughly evaluated to make sure all of the basic requirements are on there, such as contact details, then look a little deeper at how you can generate more sales from these pages…
If the popular pages are not your sales/ product pages, then make sure there are clear links to direct the visitor to your sales pages. The high traffic viewing this page will filter through to your most valuable pages, increasing the chances of conversions.
Your most popular pages might be your sales pages, but if they’re not delivering the results you hope for, then take a look at the page from the customers’ perspective; is there enough information? Are the details correct and up to date? Are contact details visible and is it clear as to how they make a purchase from you?
Whilst your editing the pages, why not include some social media share buttons? This way visitors can share the pages and information they like with all of their followers, increasing the chances of even more traffic to these pages.
