Panda 4.0 Has Arrived

The latest Google Panda 4.0 update has been released and it’s already starting to have an impact on some sites.

The aim of Panda is to boost high quality content sites and push the lower quality further down the search results.

Has your site been affected by this change? Whether positively or negatively, it throws up the issue of getting fresh content onto your website once again.

Panda wants to reward those sites that puts the effort into getting new content onto their site regularly. This doesn’t mean changing a paragraph on a page occasionally, this is new pages, blog posts, news articles.

Firstly; are you actually able to publish fresh content on your website? If not, then speak to your website provider to find out how. If your website doesn’t have a user-friendly content management system, then give us a call. We make it easy for our customers to add and edit content whenever they like.

Once you’re ready to start publishing some content, you need to decide on the topic. This is often the tricky part for businesses. Here’s some suggestions to get you going:

  • Latest company news – new employee, new premises, upcoming events or fundraising activities from your staff
  • ‘How to’ article – show customers examples of how to use your products, or a quick guide. If you’re a fashion retailer, perhaps a guide to ‘the perfect wedding outfit’
  • Industry news – news from your industry, whether it’s a development in technology or your response to a recent news piece
  • Case studies and testimonials – this is one of the easiest content generation methods, ask your customers if they could write down some words on their experiences with you and turn it into a case study. Include a brief summary of their business and a description of what you did for them

If you’re not a writer, or if you’re simply too busy running your business, talk to us about how we could help you with your copywriting.

As soon as the content is published online, don’t forget about it, share it! Get on social media and let people know your new content is there. Social signals are an increasingly popular aspect of SEO, so don’t neglect this.

Throughout all of Google’s updates, the top point is always, and will most likely always be, content. If you’d like to talk to us further about Search Engine Optimisation and how to improve your site, especially if you have been hit negatively by this recent update, give us a call on 01865 920 003 or request a call back on our contact page.
