Connor's Time Work Experience
Supporting Local Talent Through Work Experience
At IRUN, we believe in supporting the local community by giving students real insight into the digital industry. Work experience placements allow students to gain practical skills while seeing how professional websites are built, managed, and maintained.
Recently, we welcomed Connor for a work experience placement where he had the opportunity to work on his fathers website for his company which spesialises in gardening and maintenance.
Learning Elementor
A major part of Connor’s placement focused on learning how to use Elementor effectively. He became confident using containers, widgets and styling controls to build pages without writing code, whilst also gaining an appreciation for how professional web developers structure websites for maintainability and performance.
As his confidence grew, Connor was able to recreate designs, customise layouts and experiment with different styling techniques to achieve the desired appearance for the website.
Real-World Experience
Working on a live project gave Connor an insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of a web developer. Rather than simply completing tutorials, he experienced the process of planning a website, building individual pages and refining the design based on feedback.
This practical experience helped him develop problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a greater understanding of how professional websites are created for businesses.
